Artist- Kristie Roeder :: Studio- Artisan Clay Jewelry

Clay Artist Kristie Roeder enjoys making rough natural shapes and incorporating semi-precious stones in her designs. Her favorite work is more primitive in form. Jewelry is a great way to be able to constantly experiment and use new ideas in construction, finishing and firing. The Artist has dug clay local to her home and enjoys using the locally dug clay in her most primitive work. A potter’s wheel is used to throw some of the round and donut pendants. For some of the pieces, recycled or stained glass is fused into the clay in the second of two kiln firings..

Kristie is a potter and all of her work is made in the same methods as functional pottery. Every piece is formed, trimmed, dried, fired, glazed, and fired again before it then can be made into jewelry.

Kristie is involved with several professional artistic organizations, including The Guild of Craftsmen, her Local Arts Council and volunteering at her local art center and serving on its board of directors.
